Mobile Congestion Warning Installation Motorway A4 Stadtroda Home > Projects > A4 Stadtroda Project Conception At the "Hermsdorfer Kreuz" in Thuringia the motorway A4 Frankfurt–Dresden crosses the motorway A9 Munich–Berlin which makes this junction one of the busiest motorway inter-sections in Germany. Because of the long-term expansion of the A9 to six lanes it frequently comes to an increased danger of congestions and obstructions of traffic when the traffic volume is high. This has negative effects on the motorway A4 as well. The installation of a temporary traffic management system as mobile congestion warning installation raises the road safety considerably. In this system the Weiss-Electronic radar detector RD2200 detects the traffic on all lanes from a sidefire position. In due time and according to the situation the drivers are warned of congestions and thus the tailback between Stadtroda and the service station Teufelstal is secured. The temporary road-control installation is planned and realised as portable system with limited functional range. After the road construction is finished the mobile system will be removed.
Start of constructions: August 2007. Start of operation: September 2007. The project volume amounts to approx. € 75 thousand. |
